Negotiation of conventions on extradition and on the transfer of sentenced persons between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Spain
Under  the authorization of Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s President and permission from the Prime Minister, from 11 to 15 July 2011, in Madrid, Spain, interdisciplinary negotiating delegation including members from the Office of the President, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs and Public Security led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Director of Legal Affairs Department under Ministry of Public Security,  conducted the first round of negotiation  of conventions on extradition and on the transfer of sentenced persons between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Spain.
The two countries began to establish diplomatic relations in May 1977. Vietnam-Spain relations have made progress over the past years which have been demonstrated through mutual understanding and a high consensus on views of the International arena.

In the current context, the negotiation to conclude the bilateral conventions on extradition and on the transfer of sentenced persons is necessary, contributing to futher enhance the "strategic partnership oriented towards the future" between Vietnam and Spain.

During the visit of State President Nguyen Minh Triet to Spain on December14, 2009, as the rotating chairmanships of ASEAN and the EU in 2010, two sides agreed to consider close cooperation, which aimed at promoting the ASEAN-EU relation and enhancing cooperation on bilateral and multilateral issues relating to economic, trade, culture and education .../.-ITD
