On 1 June 2011, the Ministry of Finance issued Circular No. 74/2011/TT-BTC on securities trading guidelines permitting investors to open multiple accounts, do margin trading, buy and sell the same stock in a trading session.
Accordingly, investors are only allowed to open one trading account at each securities company. If they wish to open other securities trading accounts at different security companies, the number and codes of the already opened accounts must be specified in the account opening dossier.
In addition, investors may carry out the reverse transactions (buy, sell) of the same kind of stock in a trading day after meeting the conditions stipulated in Circular 74 and not allowed to carry out the transactions which does not result in the transfer of ownership of stock or simultaneously set the orders for purchase and sale of the same kind of stock in each matching time on the same account or the different accounts owned by investor.
The circular takes effect from 1 August 2011./.-ITD
