Exchange experience on Civil Code between Vietnam and Japan
Within the framework of cooperation between JICA and Vietnam Ministry of Justice, the working delegation led by Deputy Minister Dinh Trung Tung visited Japan to research and exchange experience in amendments to Civil Code.

Attending the delegation are representatives from Legal and Judicial Departments under NA’s Office, the Legal Department under Government’s Office, VCCI and Law Faculty, Hanoi National University.

On March 02, Japan’s Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa had a meeting with the delegation. At the reception, she highly appreciated the cooperation between the two Justice Ministries, as well as the cooperation between JICA and Vietnam Ministry of Justice since 1994. She was glad to see the Legal Assistance Project would continue its third phase (2015 - 2020). She also expressed her hope that with the assistance of JICA, Vietnam will achieve fruitful results in implementing the Civil Code Project (amended).

Thanks to the Minister for receiving the delegation and the support of Japan Legal Training and Research Institute and related agencies of Japan Justice Ministry. He praised Japan Justice Ministry, JICA Vietnam for their supports to judicial work, building and perfecting Vietnam law on civil matters. He also shared information on amending the civil code in Vietnam as well as the timely assistance of JICA, Japanese legal experts and professors to the Project. He affirmed that, despite a lot of difficulties, Vietnam is determined to build the Civil Code and legal system that better meet the demand of respecting and protecting citizens’right, building the market economy and international integration. He proposed Japan Ministry of Justice, legal experts to continue support Vietnam to fulfill the targets in the third phase of the legal assistance Project.

During the working trip, the delegation will discuss with Japanese partners about the matter related to the role of the Civil Code, individuals, legal persons, ownership rights, jus in re, obligation and contract.
