The eighth meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial reform

On December 10, the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform discussed and gave comments on the draft reports submitting to the Poliburo on establishing the basic People’s Court and regional People’s Procuracy.

Addressing at the meeting, State President Truong Tan Sang, head of the committee, asked participants to clarify the shortcomings that need to be addressed during implementation. He stressed that the judicial reform aimed at building a transparent, strong, democratic and strict justice system. He urged delegates to maintain an open-minded and democratic spirit and to brainstorm the draft project to promptly submit to the Politburo for consideration.

Majority of elegates agreed with the draft report submitting to the Poliburo on establishing the basic People’s Court and regional People’s Procuracy. However, they urged to accelarate the procedures, especially in large cities. They also stressed the need to carefully consider the implementation to ensure Party leadership and supervision of the People’s Councils, the contact between legal implementation bodies and locals in remote areas and coordination among judicial agencies in law enforcement.
