The 2012 legal partnership forum opens in Hanoi

On December 12, Ministry of Justice in coordination with UNDP held the 2012 legal partnership forum entitled “strengthening legal and judicial reform in Vietnam”. Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong and Ms Pratibha Mehta,UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, attended and deliver speeches.

This year’s forum aimed at updating information relating to the implementation of legal and judicial reforms, the 2012 – 2016 agenda on judicial reform and the amendment to the 1992 Constitution.

Addressing at the event, Minister Ha Hung Cuong appreciated the cooperation, supports and sharing experience from international organisations that help Vietnam overcome the current difficulties. He affirmed that the annual forum will revitalise the framework and co-operation system between Vietnam and international partners.

Pratibha Mehta pledged that UNDP would continue working closely with Vietnam at policy talks and legal partnership forums, contributing to perfecting the country’s legal and judicial system.

The legal partnership forum was joinly held by Ministry of Justice and UNDP since 2004.  For the past over 8 years, the forum is considered as an effective channel helping Vietnamese Government revise and implement legal policies and providing international community with information on legal implementation in Vietnam.
