The first meeting of the Steering Committee implementing the Master Plan to simplify administrative procedures, citizenship papers

The Steering Committee for the realization of the Master Plan to simplify administrative procedures, citizenship papers and the database related to population management in the 2013-2020 period convened its first meeting on September 06.

According to the Prime Minister’s Decision, the Steering Committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, consisted of 17 members and three Vice Chairmen, namely Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son.

The Master Plan aims to comprehensively renovate population management towards modernity, speed up application of information technology in processing administrative procedures, cutting administrative procedures and citizenship papers, and contributing to the development of e-Government in Viet Nam. Individuals will not have to repeatedly declare their basic information, make copies of or certify their original citizenship papers. 

At the first meeting, the Committee discussed its draft operating regulation, draft Plan to implement the Project in the stage from 2013-2020 as well as the working plan since June, 2013 up to now.

In the first stage from 2013-2014, the Steering Committee will focus on improving legal framework for granting personal identification numbers, building database on population; reviewing and systematizing administrative procedures, citizenship papers; proposing ways to cut down on administrative procedures.

In the next phase through 2020, the grant of personal identification numbers will be deployed by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
