Deputy Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long said that Vietnam has participated actively in the process of establishing the ICC since its beginning. However, the implementation of the Rome Statute requires relatively harsh conditions therefore It can affect many aspects of social life, particularly requires amendment and supplement to the legal system. Therefore, Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Justice scrutinized the contents of this Regulation and also had preparation of the necessary conditions before considering and deciding on the accession.
Delivered speech at the Seminar were Ms. Eleni Chaitidou, expert from ICC, Mr. Harry Roque, Director of Institute of international law, University of the Philippines and the participation and presentations by speakers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hanoi University of Law, Law Faculty of Hanoi National University on the content such as history, the difficulties, challenges and prospects for the ICC; experience of some countries to join the ICC.
Through this event, Vietnamese staff, researchers attended at this Seminar had been useful information about the actual operations of the International Criminal Court, for further delve more likely, to join the Rome Statute of the ICC.
