A delegation from the Vietnamese People’s Supreme Court (VPSC) led by Chief Justice Truong Hoa Binh visited Laos from July 23-28 to boost cooperation with their Lao counterparts.

The VPSC delegation held talks with the Chief Justice of the Lao People’s Supreme Court (LPSC) Khammy Xayavong, reviewing the implementation of cooperative activities in 2008-2010 and exchanging experiences in consolidating the tribunal system.

Between 2008-2009, the VPSC provided 2 billion VND (over 105,000 USD) for the LPSC and organised short-term training courses for 50 Lao court officers.

The two sides agreed to continue their cooperation plan for 2011-2012, including training for Lao court officials, strengthening the exchange of experiences in tribunal work and hosting a conference of chief justices of border provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia later this year.

During their stay in Laos, Chief Justice Binh and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Thongsing Thammavong, who said the visit helped strengthen the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in general and between the two courts in particular./.
