Deploying lawyer training program for international integration

On June 8th, Deputy Minister of Justice Phan Chi Hieu chaired the seminar about what and how to deploy the lawyer training program for international integration. The seminar was attended by some foreign and domestic lawyers, representatives of some training facilities and relating units of the Ministry of Justice.
The program focuses on training students with high ethical qualities, knowledge, basic and advance skills of a lawyer in foreign investment, trading and commercial. With the knowledge, skills and qualities that were equipped, the students can engage in consulting, litigating and other servies relate to international integration for state organs, foreign and domestic organizations, enteprises, individuals.
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu informed that recently, the role of Vietnamese lawyers in dealing with international integration legal issues has many inadequacies since the amount of lawyers who can consult or participate in litigation on these matters are quite low. Therefore, it is very necessary to build lawyer teams with high specialties, professional skills, legal knowledge, international trade practices, English skills and are capable of consult on the matters relate to international economic integration.
According to the Lawyer training program for international integration that was being built by the Judicial Academy, the training duration is 12 months of focused training. The Program is designed into subjects with 33 credits, the teaching language is Vietnamese and English. After finishing the program, the students will be granted a Lawyer Certificate, which has the same value as the Lawyer Certificate regulated in Article 12 clause 2 of the Amended, Supplemented Law of the Lawyer Law.
At the seminar, the delegates have exchanged and discussed to complete the training program, as well as how to practically deploy the program. Specifically, many delegates wanted the program to focus on language since the students need English to study and work. At the same time, the program also has to consider the lecturer qualities, ensuring that most lecturers are practices lawyers, who directly engaged in resolving international commercial disputes.
