The Ministry of Justice of Viet Nam identified international legal cooperation is rooted from our internal need and based on the need for researches, information and foreign experience in the development and improvement of the legal system, especially in legal fields that are new to us and where we are lack of experience for practical application. Therefore, in addition to promoting the internal sources, the Ministry of Justice, other Ministries, legal and judicial agencies and organizations of Viet Nam wish to enjoy further experience sharing, cooperation and supports of the international partners.
Highly appreciating the profound changes of legal and judicial sectors of Viet Nam over the recent years, French Ambassador to Viet Nam, H.E. Bertrand Lortholary emphasized: Viet Nam has gradually shifted from a system predominated by the public law, in which citizens could only enjoy rights prescribed in the laws, to a system promoting private law, individual freedom and the priciple that everyone is entitled to do whatever is not forbidden by laws. This is a key development for the people. The Ambassador strongly believed that this positive path shall be proceeded in the coming time and confirmed that the French Republic as well as other partners, are willing to provide supports for the Vietnamese institutions to continue this process.
