The Forum on Legal policy dialogue has been held annually since 2011. The forum provides opportunities for Government and partners to discuss the key priorities in the legal and judicial reforms in Vietnam.
Justice Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien and Ms Louise Chamberlain, UNDP Director to Vietnam co-chaired the conference.
At the meeting, representative from Ministry of Justice briefly introduced the implementation of the 1999 Criminal Law as well as orientations to amend and supplement the law which meet the demand of international integration. The participants also discussed and exchanged views on the matters.
Addressing at the Forum, Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien affirmed that Vietnam has been deeply and broadly integrated in the region and the world, which comes along with the new requirements to the legal system and criminal law. Therefore, the amendment of criminal law needs to closely access to the international standards, creating favorable legal basis for the criminal combat and prevention.
