At the meeting, the Minister was glad to meet the Ambassador. He expressed the hope that in 2012 the cooperation between the two countries in the field of adoption would be resumed, providing opportunities for Vietnamese children with special circumstances who were not able to find a substitute family in the country could get adoptive families in the United States as well as to meet the wishes of U.S families to have adoptive children from Vietnam. He would also like to send his thanks to the U.S Government, Ms Susan Jacobs and American families for adopting thousands of Vietnamese children and taking care of them in the new environment.
Sharing with the Minister, the Ambassador said that it was necessary to strictly manage the adoption organizations. She proposed that Vietnam need to limit the numbers of adoption organisations when re-granting operation permits for the adoption organizations; the U.S side will cooperate with Vietnamese agencies to strictly control these organization’s activities. She informed that Vietnamese children adopted in the United States have received kind care and upbringing.
Minister Ha Hung Cuong agreed with the special Advisor and hoped that in 2012 bilateral cooperation on adoptions would turn to a new page./.-ITD
