Standing Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien on September 27 had a talk with Chief Justice of the Hungarian Supreme Court András Baka on the occasion of his working visit to  Vietnam.
At the meeting, Standing Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien said: Vietnam and Hungary have had fine traditional relationships for many years; in the field of legal assistance, both countries have made quite effective cooperation in recent years. However, the Deputy Minister emphasized that, in the context of international economic integration, the cooperation should be further strengthened to meet the requirements of the new situation.

Mr Andras Baka highly spoke of cooperation activities between the two Ministries of Justice. He stressed the fine bilateral relationships of legal and judicial bodies were essential for long-term cooperation in various areas between two nations.

He also said that the Mutual Legal Assistance Agreements between Vietnam and Hungary signed in 1985 has been effectively promoted over the past years. However, over more than 20 years, the situation of the two countries have had changes, particularly the event that Hungary joined the European Union has posed new challenges to Hungary’s efforts to fulfill its international commitments. Therefore, two nations need jointly review the Agreement 1985 and make adjustments accordingly./-ITD
