On August 10, at the Ministry of Justice, Deputy Minister Dinh Trung Tung received Ms. Claire A. Pierangelo, Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy to Vietnam .
Attending the meeting were also Ms. Deborah Fairman, Consular Chief at U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, and representatives from the International Cooperation Department, Judicial Support Department and Child Adoption Department under Ministry of Justice.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Dinh Trung Tung congratulated Ms. Claire A. Pierangelo on being appointed as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy to Vietnam. Thanks for American support in recent years, especially through STAR Project and legal implementation for economic integration Project, the Deputy Minister hoped that U.S would continue helping Vietnam with legal and justice reforms.
In response, Ms. Claire A. Pierangelo expressed her pleasure at the cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and U.S Embassy in recent years and affirmed the wish to support Vietnam in implementing the priorities of legal and justice reform.
The Deputy Minister also informed Ms. Claire A. Pierangelo that Vietnam’s State President had officially ratified the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption and expressed hope that U.S would support Vietnam to implement the Child Adoption Law.
For her part, Ms.Claire A. Pierangelo shared American hopes in supporting Vietnam to implement Child Adoption Law and boosting the bilateral cooperation in this field./.-ITD
