On 27 May 2014, the Central Commission of Internal Affairs hosted the workshop on the innovation of organization and operation of the People's Courts at the request of judicial reforms.
The workshop was
co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Doan Khanh, member of the Party’s Central Committee,
Deputy Head of the Central Commission of Internal Affairs, Mr. Tran Van Do,
Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Chief Judge of the Central
Military Court and Mr. Scott Ciment, Policy Advisor of the UNDP Vietnam. The
participants are professionals, managers and scientists obtaining practical
experiences related to the field of justice of ministries and agencies including
the Steering Committee for Judicial Reforms, the Supreme People's Court, Hanoi
National University, Ministry of Justice, Vietnam Bar Federation, Vietnam Lawyers
Association, the Legal Committee of the National Assembly, Judicial Academy,
Ministry of Public Security and some localities.
In the workshop, the
participants delivered several scientific reports with the focus of the
innovation of organization and operation of the People's Courts at the request
of judicial reforms. Comments in the workshop were basically consistent with
the reports and speeches of the participants. However, there were also some suggestions
to amend and supplement a number of articles of the Law on Organization of the
People’s Courts related to judges such as institutional appointment and tenure
of judges.
Concluding the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Doan Khanh
highly appreciated all reports, speeches and comments of the participants. He
addressed that the positive results of the workshop shall serve the mission of
innovating organization and operation of the People's Courts contributing to judicial
reforms in general.
