The National Assembly (NA) will spend the whole day of May 27 discussing socio-economic issues and the NA budget, which will be broadcast live on VOV.

From May 24-26, the legislative body will discuss a number of controversial issues related to draft laws on criminal cases, trade arbitration, energy use, taxation on housing and land, child adoption, and post and telecommunications.

During the first week of the NA’s seventh session, many deputies agreed that in 2009, the government’s socio-economic policies were effective and taken in time to help the economy weather the then global financial storm and achieve the basic targets set by the NA.

Some deputies highlighted the fact that in 2009, the economy achieved or even exceeded 17 of the major socio-economic targets and recorded a continuously increasing Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

However, quite a few deputies expressed their concern over rising prices, electricity shortages and increasing pollution problems.
